Addressing the persistent gender gap in political leadership, ambition, and self-efficacy is crucial for the future of democracy, especially considering the compounding factors of gender, social class, and ethnicity. This policy brief draws insights from the research conducted by the “Gender Empowerment Through Politics in the Classroom” (G-EPIC) consortium to assess and counter gender difference in political self-efficacy among adolescents. Drawing upon evidence from the “WP3 Joint report with WP2 generating hypotheses for other WPs” (deliverable D3.2), this brief outlines key research questions, hypotheses generated from the findings, and policy recommendations tailored to counter gender differences in political self-efficacy. By shedding light on the specific challenges faced by girls, especially those from socially disadvantaged backgrounds, the research conducted in WP2 and WP3 sets the stage for targeted interventions aimed at cultivating gender equality in political self-efficacy among youth within the educational landscape.
