Abstract

The excess component in mixed conducting compounds with a deviation from stoichiometry is subject to thermal segregation in a temperature gradient. The degree of segrefation (Soret effect) is determined by the heat of transport of the mobile excess component. The formal realtions for the description of thermal diffusion and related phenomena (Thermopower, Peltier effect) in mixed conduvtors are presented. The influece of local defect equilibria on thermal diffusion is discussed. Experimental examples are presented.
