Abstract
[(pmap)Mn-(mu-O)(2)-Mn(pmap)](ClO4)(3), a dinuclear bis(mu-oxo)manganese (III, IV) complex, was synthesized by the reaction of Mn(ClO4)(2) with bis[2-(2-pyridyl)ethyl]-2-pyridylmethyl (= pmap) and hydrogen peroxide. The complex was characterized structurally and EPR-measurements showed the characteristic 16 line signal for a bis-(mu-oxo)Mn(III)/Mn(IV) dimer. The corresponding complex with tris[2-(2-pyridyl)ethyl]amine (= tepa) could not be synthesized; it is most likely that in this complex, the Mn-Mn separation would be too long for a bis(mu-oxo) bridge.
