Abstract
In a rural area of northern Thailand the dependence of the nutritional status of preschool children on the weaning practices, the socio-economic situation and the number of children in the family was examined. A negative influence on the nutritional status could be shown for families with a large number of children and for early weaning. Even for a good socioeconomic situation, a negative influence on the nutritional status was indicated, which is explained by the increased number of children and a short nursing period in these families.
