Abstract

This paper investigates a sample of 776 european firms and studies the individual impact of different Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) sub-categories on firms’ equity risk. The results indicate that environmental innovation, consideration of human rights, community relations as well as the implementation of a CSR strategy are particularly relevant for reducing firms’ equity risk. Taking sustainability information on a more granular level into account hence shows to be highly relevant for both firm managers and investors who want to employ sustainability strategies most effectively.
