Abstract
Cyclic voltammetry has been performed on thin films of tetrapyrazinotetraazaporphyrinatocopper(II) (1) on either gold or ITO in contact with acidic electrolytes. The films show a reversible electrochromic behavior with one cathodic and two anodic peaks. The two separate reoxidation waves in the cyclic voltammogram are interpreted by an intermediate compound formed during the reoxidation process. The kinetics of the formation and the nature of the intermediate are elucidated from the cyclic voltammograms and from spectroelectrochemical experiments.
